ASEAN-India Free Trade Area (AIFTA) — in force since 1 January 2010 Overview. ASEAN-India Free Trade Area (AIFTA) is in force since 1 January 2010. The goods agreement applies between India and ten ASEAN states: it took effect on 1 January 2010 with Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand and with the other seven between June 2010 and August 2011. Services and investment are covered by two separate agreements signed in November 2014, and a review of the goods agreement was still being negotiated in July 2026. Each country's schedule puts tariff lines on a Normal Track, a Sensitive Track, a list of Special Products, a Highly Sensitive List or an Exclusion List, and lines on the Exclusion List get no preference. The scheduled cuts ended in 2024, so the rates no longer change from year to year. Reading the schedule. Coverage is set out tariff line by tariff line, not by broad product category.
