The India-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA) is one of the most significant trade agreements India has negotiated. Negotiation History and Current Status Negotiations for the India-EU Broad-based Trade and Investment Agreement (BTIA) were launched in June 2007 and suspended in 2013, when the two sides' ambitions remained too far apart. At their meeting in Porto on 8 May 2021, EU and Indian leaders agreed to resume, and talks were formally relaunched in Brussels on 17 June 2022, alongside separate negotiations on investment protection and geographical indications.
